Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola
Tutuola worked in Narcotics before transferring to the SVU. He was often involved in undercover operations and is extremely street smart. He likes to keep his feelings to himself and plays "tough", even though the cases sometimes hit him hard. He usually deals with criminals in a no-nonsense style. Despite his steely exterior, he is compassionate towards victims and relates to those in run-down areas, as he grew up in a deprived, crime infested area. He has also been known to reach out to victims, particularly African-Americans.
Tutuola has a grown-up son called Ken, whom he is rather estranged from. When Ken was brought in as a suspect for murder, it was Benson he contacted, rather than his father. This caused some tension. When Tutuola first joined the squad, he and Benson had a shaky working relationship... they simply did not see eye to eye. However, this has changed slowly as they have come to respect each other.
